What happens next
We handle claims against every airline covered by the regulation
If your flight departed the UK or EU — or arrived there on a UK or EU airline — your right to compensation applies no matter who you flew with. These are the carriers we file against most often.
Sorted Skies is an independent claims management company. We are not affiliated with, endorsed by, sponsored by or acting on behalf of any airline named above. Airline names are shown only to identify the carriers we handle passenger compensation claims against.
Three steps, handled for you
Airlines rarely pay out without a formal claim. Our claims specialists build and run that claim on your behalf, from the first letter to the final payment.
Tell us what happened
Your flight number and date is usually enough. We check the delay and its cause against official flight records ourselves.
We deal with the airline
Our claims team files your case, follows up, and escalates to a regulator or small-claims court if the airline doesn't respond.
You get paid
Your compensation is transferred to you as soon as the airline settles. We only take our 20% fee once you've been paid.
We track your claim as closely as air traffic control tracks this landing
38,000+ passengers helped across more than 40 countries — every claim followed from the first delay to the final payout.
What the law actually entitles you to
In plain terms: if your flight left from or landed in the EU or UK and was delayed by 3 or more hours, cancelled, or you were denied boarding, for a reason the airline was responsible for, you're entitled to a fixed compensation amount — regardless of what you paid for your ticket. These rules are known as EU261 and its UK equivalent, UK261.
Figures are the statutory amounts set by EU Regulation 261/2004 and its UK equivalent. Extraordinary circumstances — severe weather, air-traffic strikes, security risks — can reduce or void a claim, which is exactly the kind of thing we check for you before filing.
The other two ways cost you more — time or money
Claim it yourself
- Keep 100% of the payout
- You write, chase and translate everything
- Most self-filed claims stall after the first rejection
Sorted Skies
- We handle the airline, escalation and paperwork
- Free eligibility check, no obligation
- Nothing to pay if we don't win
Hire a solicitor
- Personal attention for complex cases
- Higher fees eat into a small payout fast
- Overkill for a standard delay claim
Delays are annoying. Claiming shouldn't be.
"Our flight to Faro sat on the tarmac for four hours. I filed with Sorted Skies from the gate and had the payout before we'd unpacked."
"I'd already tried emailing the airline myself and got nowhere for months. Sorted Skies had a response from them in twelve days."
"Denied boarding on an overbooked flight, which I didn't even know was compensable. Straightforward from start to finish."
A claims specialist, not a call centre script
Sorted Skies was founded by former airline operations staff. We only work on flight compensation, so we know exactly which cases hold up and which airlines drag their feet.
Specialists, not generalists
Every case is handled by someone who deals with flight compensation claims every day, not a general customer-service queue.
Your money, kept separate
Compensation from the airline is held in a dedicated client account until it's transferred to you — it's never mixed with our own funds.
Clear at every step
You can see your claim's status at any time, and we'll always explain in plain terms why a case succeeds, stalls or doesn't qualify.
Before you check your flight
Any flight that departed an EU/UK airport, or landed at one on an EU/UK-registered airline, and arrived 3+ hours late, was cancelled with under 14 days' notice, or involved denied boarding — for a reason inside the airline's control.
Technical faults, crew shortages, overbooking and most operational issues count. Severe weather, air-traffic-control strikes and security incidents generally don't — we check the airline's stated reason against public flight records before filing.
Straightforward cases with cooperative airlines often settle in 4–8 weeks. Ones that require escalation to a regulator or small-claims court can take several months — you can watch the status update at any point from your account.
Checking eligibility is always free. If we take on your case and win, we keep a flat 20% of the payout — no separate admin fees, no charge if the claim doesn't succeed.
Yes — most EU countries and the UK allow claims going back up to six years, though the exact limit depends on which country's courts would hear the case.
